New Domains Workflow

We've launched a new workflow for adding and verifying domains.

Providing the best developer experience is a key focus at Resend.

Domains are crucial to using Resend and often the first interaction users have with Resend. Unfortunately, verifying a domain is often manual and frustrating because of many reasons out of our control:

  • DNS time propagation
  • access to the domain provider
  • confusing for non-technical users

Key Improvements

We've invested a lot of time into researching ways to improve this crucial onboarding experience and have made three key improvements.

1. One-click integration

Now, you can add the necessary DNS records without manual copying and pasting.

This is powered by Domain Connect, an open standard that allows seamless integration between domain providers and services.

Not only does Domain Connect lead to a faster verification process, but it also reduces the chance of human error.

Domain Connect must be first enabled by your domain provider. Currently, only Cloudflare and a few other providers support the standard, but we are eager to expand this list as other providers support it.

Contact your domain provider to encourage them to support Domain Connect.

2. Instruction forwarding

Our customers who sign up may not be technical or have access to their domain provider. You can now forward the domain verification instructions to your team.

3. Documentation improvements

We've expanded our documentation for popular email providers to make it easier to verify your domain. We also reorganized our knowledge base to make it easier to find provider-specific documentation.

Results for our customers

We've seen a tangible improvement in the domain verification process.

  1. A huge drop of support tickets (~20% decrease)
  2. Faster validation time (medium time-to-verification is now just 5.19 seconds!)

We're excited to see these improvements and look to future improvements to the domain verification process.
